elinda Chapman was raised with three younger brothers on a ranch outside Madill, Oklahoma. From this background she gained a love and respect for the land and animals. With a major in Agriculture Economics, she graduated from Oklahoma State University and lived in Dallas, Texas for a year. Fighting the traffic soon grew old and she decided to move to Ardmore to find her career.

In 1989, she went to work for Ruth Young Travel Service where she and two partners purchased the company in 1991. "I thoroughly enjoy this business! Based on our expertise, we can figure out travel solutions for a variety of people. Many tell their stories as to why they are traveling. Some are sad and some are joyous. I love helping people! Our goals include having fun while providing a value-added service."

Belinda is quick to point out Ardmore has the small town atmosphere while still offering plenty of activities, shopping and events.

"It's a pro-active community convenient to the metroplex, but still allowing you to hear the birds every day and enjoy the lakes and natural resources."

Belinda serves on the Salvation Army Board helping provide housing and meals for the indigent. She can be found ringing the bell for donations at Christmas.

She also is the treasurer for the Ardmore Literacy Council which helps citizens learn to read and further their reading skills. A member of the City Planning Commission, she passes recommendations on rezoning issues on to the City Commission. Belinda aides individuals and our city in improving quality of life.

"With recreation, schools, churches, outdoor activities, the coliseum, the Goddard Center and soon the convention center, there is something in Ardmore for everyone," says Chapman.

Dedication to improving quality of life for the underprivileged and planning for the future of our City is why Belinda Chapman is an Ardmore Star!
