enry Roberts grew up in Granite, Oklahoma and graduated from Southwest Oklahoma University School of Pharmacy in 1971. During his last year in pharmacy school, he completed an internship at Steele Drug. He grew to appreciate Ardmore and made the decision he would like to move back if an opportunity ever presented itself.
In 1976, he leased the Wal-Mart pharmacy and made Ardmore his official home. "One of the first things I noticed about Ardmore was the great business mentors. John Snodgrass was a tremendous mentor to me. He recognized a need for a Masters program in Ardmore and didn't stop until he convinced Oklahoma City University to offer it locally in 1992," said Roberts.

"This education gave me the confidence and comfort level to step out and take some risks. And that is exactly what Henry Roberts did! In 1997, he opened Henry Roberts Express Pharmacy.

"I was humbled by the fact so many of our customers thought enough of our staff and services to follow our business. I recognize people have a choice where they shop."

Continuing to diversify, he has ownership interests in the Neustadt Plaza, an office building, and the Department of Human Services building. He built a car wash and most recently a convenience store.

"I'm impressed with Ardmore's appearance, thanks to the Ardmore Beautification Council, it is well maintained with flowers and shrubs. I try to see that each one of my properties enhance the look of our beautiful city."

Roberts knows Ardmore as he served on its City Commission for five years and was mayor in 1996. He now volunteers at the Good Shepherd Medical Clinic, which offers medical assistance to the working poor and those who could not otherwise afford it.

"Fourteen advisory boards give time each month to make sure this town reaches its potential. Ardmore is pretty, enjoys natural resources and the generosity of its citizens. It has been an excellent place for my wife, Linda, and I to raise our two sons."
